Introduction

Hydrocephalus

Hydrocephalus, a symptom which cerebrospinal fluid accumulate in the brain abnormally. It is caused by excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up within the fluid-containing cavities or ventricles of the brain, insufficient CSF absorption, or blocked aqueduct. The abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid may cause memory loss, unstable walking, or urinary incontinence.
Although hydrocephalus is treatable, the current clinical diagnosis has not been able to predict the development of hydrocephalus. Hence, we consider human brain as a fluid-solid coupling model and make a simulation of hydrocephalus using the poroelasticity and fluid dynamics. We utilise finite element method and some mathematical method to simulate the development of hydrocephalus. Furthermore, our goal is to provide a reference for clinicians.
